First trip up north...

Over this past weekend the dogs and I went up to visit my mom, dad and brother. Dad and Jake went off to MIS for the car race so I got to spend some time with mom, granny, my aunt Nancy and cousins. We all had a good time.
The car ride up went quite well. Penny rode in her crate again and Hank was buckled up as usual. Took us about 2hrs to get to Port Sanilac.
My parents house is across the street from Lake Huron, sadly they cannot see the lake from their house due to all the trees but you can hear it. They have a good chunk of land and recently got a golf cart to explore the back half. Most of the time we just relaxed around home. The dogs played in the backyard with Keona aka the fun police.
I visited my family's bakery for the first time since it opened. It's weird being able to walk into the back of a business and be recognized.  Also the one or two freebees were nice as well. All is going well there and im glad my dad and brother are happy.
Mom enjoyed having her hairy grandpups over. Penny or "Penny pocket" as she calls her now was her usual pushy self.  Hank enjoyed seeing his cat buddy Sam. Hes doing alot better after his 2 month adventure outside after he ran away this past Feb. We got him back in April and he was skinny but no worse for ware. He is now back to his spunky crazy self. Penny really didn't know what to do with Sam. I know she had cats at her rescue but how much interaction she had I don't know.
I was going to try to take the pugs down to the lake to see how Penny would respond but it wasn't all too warm.  My crazy cousins did however take a quick dip in the lake, oh what a 12 and 14yr old will do for $1 lol.
I do plan on buying the pugs both life jackets for the 4th of july trip coming up. Im looking forward to it so much! I couldn't go last year since it was my holiday to work but now I got this 4th off. Should be a good time we are expecting a large amount of people at mom and dad's house.  More to come on that adventure soon. I will leave you with a few pics from this past weekend.

We need stronger toys...

It's been a few days since I last posted. I've been busy with work and doing stuff at home.  Bought a new fridge from the Sears outlet and it crapped out on me so Jonny and I have been trying to get that stupid situation fixed. Anyway...

The pugs are being their normal crazy selves. Penny is settling more and more into my schedule. She barks a lot, my goodness. When her and Hank get going you almost have to yell over them.
A few days ago I broke the all important rule of crate training. I let Penny sleep in bed with me. Hank slept in a crate for a few months until I gave in and let him sleep with me. Penny took less then a week lol! I now have a pug blanket, one on each side of me at night. I have a feeling we're gonna have a problem once Jonny moves in. I don't know if the dogs will save enough room for him...we'll just have to see.
The pugs are going to be going on their first vacation come fourth of July. We're all going to be heading up to mom's house, it should be a fun time. I cannot wait to see everyone. I really wanna go to the beach with the dogs and let Hank swim in the lake. I still gotta get life jackets for both of them, I just hope Penny will be as much of a water pup as Hank is.

Everyone loves Pushy Penny and Hanky Panky. Im so lucky to have two awesome dogs. I dont think I could ever not have a dog in my life. They just add to my happiness. I love them to death but at times they drive me bonkers but I wouldn't have it any other way. I will leave you with a picture  of their most recent antics from early this morning. Poor Mr Octopus...

A little background knowledge

I thought I should give a little background on my pups, seeing as this blog is about them. Both of them are so unique in there own ways.
I really dont know too much about Penny's story. She was an owner surrender due to schedule changes, they just couldn't care for her anymore. Well their loss is my gain. She is such a cutie, but she is a bit pushy at times. She knocks Hank down and will sit on him. He could really care less he's just happy to have a buddy. Today Penny found her bark, of course it was at 8am when the neighbor was outside watering the garden. She sounds just like Hank, add that to the long list of things that make them alike. Penny does have some work to do in the manners department. She is a little spring and jumps up on people and mom yesterday caught her on top of the hot tub( it has a cover on it). This is only day 5 so she's just starting to get used to everything and I know with time she will be better.

Hank aka Mr Hanky is the first dog that I could call my own. Jonny and I wanted to get a pug and started looking for a breeder since we knew we wanted a puppy. We got Hank from a breeder in Ypsilanti. Picking him up at the breeders house was a fun time. There was 5 puppies in his litter and the lady had 4 adult pugs. Thats a lot of snorting at one time. Hank was the last puppy available and mom had told us if he isn't up to par she would tell us to pass. In my head I knew I couldn't leave there without him.=)  He was 8 weeks old when we got to bring him home. Hank was not your typical looking pug. He was skinny and had long legs.
Now Hank has grown into himself more, hes 22lbs and looks more like the pugs we see on tv (just not fat). Hank loves to swim and play with the hose. He will even hop in the shower if you let him. Mom calls him an odd pug. Even with Penny around Hank is still my main man, he sleeps right next to me in bed.

I knew having two dogs would be different and take some getting used to. Im glad my mom was here for the first few days to help me out. I know secretly she wanted to take them both home and leave me here in silence lol. I know Hanky is glad to have another dog in the house, he was a bit depressed when our old dog Lucy died at the beginning of the year. Its gonna take some time to get Penny used to the rules and Hank is adapting to having to share again. All in all im happy to be a crazy pug person, my house is decorated with an accent of tan fur everywhere and I wouldn't change it for the world.

Twice the hair,twice the love.

Well I created this blog to start a record of the adventures of my two pugs Hank and Penny. My fiance Jon and myself are just a tad obsessed with our dogs.  We originally only had one pug Hank but yesterday after a few months of back and forth we decided to rescue a new pup. We rescued Penny from a rescue near Cincinnatii Ohio. Her name was at first Posie but we didnt care for that. It was a long 4 1/2 hr drive there and back and we had to meet with the rescue owner at 10am. We ended up leaving around 5am since Jonny or myself could sleep anyway. The whole way there it rained. We got there an half hr early but we got to spend some time walking the two dogs together, luckly the rain had stopped at that  time. Hank and Penny hit it off quite well, I was worried at first since Hank can be a bit unsure with new dogs. They wanted to play right away, big sigh of relief on my part. After all the paper work we were on our way, the drive home was alot nicer then earlier.    Jonny and I were beyond tired after the morning, I drove halfway home and Jonny did the rest. Both pugs did well on the drive home, Penny rode in her new crate and Hank had his seat belt on. Hank had to be right near Penny's crate the whole ride home.
After getting back to Michigan we stopped at Jonny's house to get his camera. Hank had been there multiple times before, Penny did well also. Everyone loved Jonny and my new addition to our family. We finally got home and let the two pugs run in the backyard to release the pent up energy. Jonny crashed on the couch soon after we got home. The two pugs were non stop running back and forth, all I wanted to do was rest lol. We finally hit bed time and everyone crashed thankfuly.

Day two was very good. It will take some time for Penny to get used to how things run in the house. Today was full of playing, running and lots of time outside. Dad came down to visit and all of his friends came down for a party. The dogs were a huge hit and some people couldn't tell them apart at first.
They both had to be next to eachother when they would lay down, it was so cute. I love having two dogs. Its twice the love and whats better then two smiling pugs at the door to greet you when you come home.
